This month we are bringing you the Bells beers from Galesburg, MI. Bells is one of the best craft brews found in the Midwest and currently is found in only nine states. Kalamazoo Brewing Company, founded by Larry Bell as a home-brewing supply shop in 1983, sold its first beer in 1985. Originally brewing in a 15-gallon soup kettle, the company grew rapidly on top of its first year's 135 barrels (BBL = 31 gal.) of production.
Kalamazoo Brewing Company stands as the oldest craft-brewer East of Boulder, Colorado. K.B.C has been a leader in the production of robust, full-bodied ales constantly competing against Macro-Breweries producing your everyday lagers. By 1989, K.B.C. was shipping over 500 barrels annually; its Bell's brands were soon known across the Midwest for their unique style and flavor. Kalamazoo Brewing has built a nationwide reputation as a creative and talented brewery. K.B.C. now reaches nine Midwestern states and produces about 60,000 barrels a year.
