Welcome to Westside Liquor’s monthly wine newsletter. It is our goal to spread the good word about new and exciting products in each and every newsletter. We also will give staff reviews of featured products to help you pick out a new beer, wine or cigar. In future issues we will also delve into informative articles so we all can better understand the contributing factors involved in bringing us our favorite wine.

Old School vs. New School – by Mike Casey

Good Day my fellow beer drinkers. I hope everyone has been able to enjoy some of their summer. Last month I mentioned some summer beers available. However, we did not have any newsletter specials. This month I want to offer a challenge. If you choose to accept you will receive a 10% discount on the beers listed below. Over the past year I have discovered the quality of the brews coming from the large lake to the east. Namely the Atlantic Ocean, and the countries involved are Belgium and Germany. It is here that quality beer production has been home to for over a millennia. Most of the beers historically brewed by monks and abbeys. It is just over the past couple of decades that the U.S. has seen the rise of micro-breweries. Many of which are trying to remake the classics with their own personal flair. I have taken the liberty to provide a comparison list of beers from Europe and the U.S. Since it is summer I have chosen lighter beers. Now go forth my friends and try some good brew.

Wheat Beer

Hoegaarden, Wit bier, Belgium Six pack Reg. $9.49 Sale $8.54
This could quite possibly be the king of wheat beers. Traditionally brewed
with orange peel and coriander since 1445.

Ayinger Brau-Weisse, Germany 500ml single Reg. $2.99 Sale $2.69
This beer was recently rated top summer beer by Men’s Journal
magazine. This beer is rich and creamy with notes of citrus and brown
spice.

Stevens Point, White Biere, Wisconsin Six pack Reg. $5.99 Sale $5.39
Stevens Point has been around since the 1800’s brewing beer. However,
This beer has been brewed since 2002 in the tradition of Hoegaarden. It
Also uses orange peel and coriander, the use of hops gives this beer an
Interesting twist.

Lager

Stella Artois, Belgium Six pack Reg. $8.49 Sale $7.64
This is the second most distributed beer in the world and for a very good
Reason. It’s GREAT! Clean, crisp and refreshing. Compare this to an
Domestic lager and be honest about which you like better.

Leinenkugel’s Northwoods Lager Reg. $5.99 Sale $5.39
Try this award winning lager from our own backdoor. So flavorful and yet
Inexpensive.

Golden Ale

beer has been brewed since 1923.

Boulder Brewing Buffalo Gold Six pack Reg. $8.49 Sale $7.64

Cascade hops. A must try.

That’s right! The beers listed below are on sale for the whole month of July! This is an in-store sale, so you do not need a copy of this newsletter.

Breckenridge Brewery Assorted 12 -packs
All twelve packs Reg. $12.99 Sale $9.95

Breckenridge Brewery was started from a whimsical dream of skiing all day and drinking good beer in the evening. This came to fruition in 1990 when Richard Squire opened the doors to the Breckenridge Brewery & Pub specializing in handcrafted microbrew ales. To this day his original recipes are still brewed in addition to the seasonal specials. Breckenridge beers are only to be had in 13 states. For central Minnesota Westside Liquor is the home of Breckenridge beer.
