“Wines for Celebration”
This time of the year is always a festive one and News Years will soon be upon us.
Buying the right wines for your parties can sometimes be frustrating because you want variety but don’t want to break the bank. Well believe it or not, we are living in the golden age of wine. Today there is more wine being made from all around the globe. Regions that were not considered players have stepped up to the plate. Chile, Spain, Argentina, New Zealand, Oregon and are own Washington State to name a few. With all this said, the time is right for the picking and the quality for the price is outstanding. When choosing wines for the holidays I like to pick a wide variety that will accommodate everyone’s palates. Sparkling, dry, off-dry, semi-sweet and desert wines. Not everybody enjoys a full bodied dry cabernet sauvignon, so throw in a lighter wine with a touch of sweetness and all will be happy. For a well rounded selection I usually pick a dry red, dry white, semi sweet white and a off-dry blush. So a shiraz, viognier, riesling and a white merlot are all you need to suit your guests tastes. Of course don’t be afraid to mix it up a little bit for fun. Malbec, tempranillo and grenache are also some fun red varietals to explore. For News Years celebration the almighty champagne is king, but if you want to save some money look for cava from Spain and domestic sparkling wines. There is great complexity and a wide variety of pricing in these last two catagories. If your in the area be sure to stop on by and check out the fabulous selection we have to offer. We would love to assist you with all of your holiday needs. Here’s a list of some sure to please wines for the celebration!
