Boulder Beer
In 1979, two Colorado University professors applied and received the 43rd brewing license issued in the U.S., creating Boulder Beer Company, Colorado’s first microbrewery. The original site of the brewery was a small farm northeast of Boulder, the brew house sharing space with a few goats. Early on, the brewery won industry and consumer accolades for its line of Boulder beers: Boulder Porter, Stout, and Extra Pale Ale. Five years later the brewery moved to its current location in Boulder, and has since expanded from a smaller one barrel brewing system, to a now much bigger 50 gallon system with top of the line packaging equipment. The brewery has a capacity to brew a total of 43,000 barrels of award-winning beer annually.
Come check out a few of these crazy and mildly exotic beers today and your local Westside Liquor Store. The Boulder beers that we currently carry at WSL are:
Never Summer Ale: Never Summer Ale is Boulder’s “aggressive” winter seasonal. Deep ruby red in color, assertively hopped and brewed with a dark caramel malt.
Mojo IPA: Pale in color, but packed in flavor. Mojo reflects the perfect balance of hop bitterness, and malt character. The unique Amarillo hop creates a big citrus flavor with an ultra crisp dry finish.
Hazed and Infused: Dry hopped with Crystal and Centennial hops for a big bold unique taste. Originally a one keg brew for the Boulder Beer pub, its popularity has now soared and is available in over 20 states!!
Singletrack: This copper ale is as refreshing as it is full flavored. A medium bodied copper ale; not too light, not too dark. Just perfect.
Planet Porter: A remarkably smooth dark ale. The generous use of black malt gives this amazing beer a slight hint of coffee. A big beer for everyone.
Sundance: This tasty beer has the nice nutty flavor of roasted barley and a mild hop finish with the color of a Colorado sunset.
Fallfest: This autumn ale is a complex amber that combines dark malt with generous amounts of Santiam hops to produce a slightly roasted flavor with a finish as crisp and clear as autumn mountain air.
Buffalo Gold: Buffalo gold has been a Colorado favorite since 1989. A true golden ale that is an easy drinking, carbonated stampede of flavor.
