Point Beer
Back in the 1800's when lumberjacks were first chopping inroads through the rugged woodlands of Wisconsin, two partners were malting and grinding grain to produce one of the very first American lager beers - Point Special Lager.
Frank Wahle and George Ruder established the Stevens Point Brewery in 1857. From there, a loyal following based on quality beer has been developed. The commitment to brewery-quality beer has been passed on throughout the generations. And now, nearly a century and half later, Point Special Beer remains a favorite specialty brand in the U.S.A. Today, consumers enjoy a complete line of other high quality Point Brews that satisfy a variety of tastes and continue the brewery's rich heritage and legendary tradition.
The Stevens Point Brewery is steeped in a history that has transcended the trials of the great Depression and Prohibition. Over 140 years later, the Stevens Point Brewery continues to successfully brew quality beer, just as the brewery's founders, Frank Wahle and George Ruder, did in 1857. This undeniable endurance is a testament of why the Stevens Point Brewery, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin is the 5th oldest continuously operating brewery remaining in the United States of America. Today, the Stevens Point Brewery is proud to be Wisconsin-owned and independently operated.
