Welcome to Westside Liquor’s monthly cigar newsletter. It is our goal to spread the good word about new and exciting products in each and every newsletter. We also will give staff reviews of featured products to help you pick out a new cigar. In future issues we will also delve into informative articles so we all can better understand the contributing factors involved in bringing us our favorite cigar.

Diablo

Now that we've satisfied our sweet tooth with last month's delicious addition of the Havana Honey, let's try something with a little more spice. The Diablo. This newer cigar was handcrafted by the great cigar master Daniel Nunez. Daniel apprenticed under the great Ramon Cifuentes whose name should ring bells to all of us cigar smoking fanatics. Okay some of the bells aren't ringing, well Ramon's grandfather invented the Partagas cigars. Ramon sold the name to the General Cigar Co. after fleeing Cuba from Castros regime.

Daniel studied under Ramon's careful eye, learning the fine craft of cigar making and still remains at the General Cigar company today as Vice President of Tobacco and Manufacturing. When designing the Diablo Daniel wanted something new, with a distinct flavor. Well, I think he's got it. Daniel starts out by using Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos as the filler. Then twisting together these fine tobaccos with a rich Connecticut broadleaf as his binder. It's starting to sound pretty tasty already isn't it? He ends this prize with a gift wrapping Ecuadorian Sumatra leave; that dark and delighting to the taste. Each of these devilish Diablo's is stamped with a red peppery seal that warns of its bite.

The Diablos are handcrafted into four different sizes. The biggest available is the 6X60 pyramid. The others are the Caliante, Picante, Pimento. My experiment with the new Diablo proved to be a peppery experience just as it advertised, but it also seemed to be a little bland and dry the first few minutes. Five minutes later into this endeavor however my opinion changed and the smoke seemed impossible to put down. The flavor of the diablo is so unique that it surprises the senses so much at first that you are left dumbfounded those first few puffs. So give it a try and spice it up with this new peppery treat from Daniel's newest hand rolled creation.
