"Make 2006 healthier with a glass of red wine"
Study after study has shown that drinking moderate amounts of red wine on a daily basis is beneficial to your health. The antioxidants, called flavonoids, that are found in the skin of red grapes reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. These flavonoid lower the low density lipoprotein (bad cholersterol) and increase the high lipoprotein (good cholesterol). The wines that have the highest concentration of flavonoids are Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Pinot Noir. White wines typically have smaller amounts than red wines.
How much red wine should you consume to promote a healthier lifestyle?
For men, one to two four-ounce glasses of wine a day and for women, one glass a day. People with elevated triglycerides, pancreas problems, family history of alcoholism or with liver or heart problems should not consume alcohol.
