Welcome to Westside Liquor’s monthly wine newsletter. It is our goal to spread the good word about new and exciting products in each and every newsletter. We also will give staff reviews of featured products to help you pick out a new beer, wine or cigar. In future issues we will also delve into informative articles so we all can better understand the contributing factors involved in bringing us our favorite wine.

Lake Superior Brewing

Lake Superior Brewing is a little brew maker that nestles itself in the upper corner of Minnesota in the beautiful lands on Duluth. Here they have created a staple of hometown beer making, and have an almost cult following of their neighbors and comrades that drink the delicious brew as if it were their jobs. They pride themselves on extreme quality, and perfection in every batch they make. It is just as important to them to make a superior beer for their heavy following of beer lovers as it is to breathe their next breath. Quality and satisfaction are just a couple of things you can always count on from these guys. Stop in today to your local Westside Liquor location and try out one of their amazing products today.

Different Lake Superior beers that are carried at Westside Liquor include:

Special Ale
A North American style of the classic British pale ale. Brewed with imported English ale yeast and generous amounts of Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest for a distinctive hop flavor and aroma.

Kayak Kölsch
Their version of the unique German ale originating in the city of Köln (Cologne). This is a very pale brew made from five different malts and two hop varieties. A period of cold aging ensures a soft malty character.

Sir Duluth Oatmeal Stout
Their version of the classic English-style Oatmeal Stout, using a variety of dark roasted malts, oatmeal, and their imported ale yeast. The result is a smooth almost-black beer, medium to full-bodied with chocolate and coffee overtones and a roasty flavor.

Mesabi Red
Their interpretation of the American red ale style. Unlike most other examples of the style, theirs is a dark amber coming from the use of 6 different malts. A blend of 3 different hops from 4 additions gives the Mesabi Red a full hop character.

Also, we are doing our best to try and get in their newest seasonal that they have out for the moment. The name of it is Split Rock Bock, which is a hearty, dark mahogany-colored beer, malty with chocolate overtones, brewed using 5 different malts. Lake Superior Split Rock Bock is the festival beer for the annual Fitger's Bock Fest held in March.

All of the beers mentioned above are delicious in every way, but stop in to your local Westside liquor so you can see for yourself and find your own favorite. And as always, thank you so much for your business!!!!
