The Don Diego Corona
This month we will be reviewing the Don Diego Corona. The Don Diego is an extremely mild cigar with a short finish. Made in the Dominican Republic, the brand has a very rich history in the cigar industry. Don Diego cigars have been around for over a generation and today are rolled in the Dominican Republic. It is made by Altadis USA, makers of such brands as Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, and Trinidad. Don Diego’s central component is its Connecticut shade grown wrapper that is silky and smooth making the cigar very mild with virtually no finish.
The Don Diego is the perfect cigar for those enthusiasts who don’t want a lot of body or an overbearing flavor. By all measures it is exactly what one would expect from a smooth Dominican cigar and it is fairly strait forward on the palate. The brand has a lot of history and is considered a classic. aste the lighter side of the Dominican Republic with a Don Diego. The Don Diego Corona has a length of 5.5” and a ring of 44. It has a very light gray ash and a fairly even burn.
The only flavor that comes forward on this cigar is that of a soft vanilla. It is a very pleasant taste that is not over powering, and there is almost no hint of any spices. This would an ideal cigar for the weekend cigar smoker who just wants a good mellow cigar during a round of golf, or sitting on the lake. The Don Diego Corona costs $7.99 and is available at our Westside Liquor Smoke Shop, located in Wait Park.
