Welcome to Westside Liquor’s monthly cigar newsletter. It is our goal to spread the good word about new and exciting products in each and every newsletter. We also will give staff reviews of featured products to help you pick out a new cigar. In future issues we will also delve into informative articles so we all can better understand the contributing factors involved in bringing us our favorite cigar.

Helix

This month we will be reviewing the Helix Cylinder and the Helix X652 Cigars.

Introduced in 2002, Helix Cigars offer a mild, yet flavorful blend that appeals to the many cigar smokers who prefer a smooth, easy-smoking cigar. When a cigar's wrapper leaf is wound around its binder and filler, it is wrapped in a spiral, starting at the foot and ending at the head, until the entire cigar is covered with the flavorful tobacco leaf. This spiraled leaf is, in fact, a helix. And that is how distinctively mild Helix Cigars got their name when they were developed by the cigar making artisans in Danli, Honduras.
A mild to medium cigar made in Honduras with Mexican binder and Connecticut wrapper.

The Helix Cylinder cigar starts smooth and settles into a nice creamy almond flavor, finishing with a hint of coffee. The Cylinder has a nice even burn and a very mellow draw. The smooth mellow taste leaves you with silky finish in your mouth that will have you licking your lips trying to pick up the subtle hints of this cigar.

The Helix X652 cigar carries many of the same qualities. It also starts very smooth, but then takes on more of a chocolate flavor and a mild spice. The X652 also has a very mellow draw and smoked very clean all the way trough.
Either of the cigars would be an excellent starter cigar for someone who isn’t sure if they are a cigar smoker. They both offer very mild tastes and are subtle enough to leave you wanting more. I would recommend these cigars to anyone who enjoys a good smooth cigar.
