"Great Red Rhones for under 20 bucks"

The Rhone region in France has been blessed with a string of superb recent vintages and you can pick up some of these wines for fabulous prices. The main grapes used in the red wines are Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvedre and Cinsault. What you get from a nice Cotes Du Rhone is usually a spicy and peppery red with with dark and red fruits and a slight earthiness. The vintages from "05"," 06" and" 07" are all tasting great now and continue to get better with a little age. I will focus on the basic Cotes Du Rhone and one from Cotes Du Ventoux. I feel that this is where the best values are coming from for under the 20 buck realm. Rhone wines are excellent wines to serve with grilled foods and can pair with everything from chicken to beef. With the Grenache grape getting more popular and almost everybody enjoying a good Syrah, these wines will be well received by all at your next gathering.
