BACKYARD BEER PANEL
Hello Beer Friends, where has the summer gone? The boys of fall are taking the field and soon the leaves will begin to change. The panel may have to start a fire other than the grill to conduct operations in the backyard, but we remain steadfast as long as the beer flows.

Citrusy on entry, hoppy mid palate, slight bitter finish that does not linger with an excellent balance of ingredients.

It tingles in the mouth as it goes in but swallows very smooth. A light bitterness that does not last long.

First one tastes great second one is even better and the flavor builds. An enjoyable summer beer. Extremely flavorful yet complex like algebra?

This is Deschutes Brewery's most popular beer, Mirror Pond Pale Ale has many accolades, medals and awards from around the world. Deschutes Brewery uses four different hop additions along with the all-important dry hopping. This was very evident in the full rich hoppy taste of this ale. It is very drinkable with a mild finish. We all liked this beer and Tim gave it a perfect score (we know what to get him for Christmas). Hey, Mr. Sloan I still do not know what "complex like algebra" tastes like (looks like I need to study more beer). Those guys (the experts) rated this beer 3.46 out of a possible 5, while we scored this much higher and enjoyed this beer much more than those guys. It must have been the ambiance of my back yard on a perfect Minnesota Tuesday night. I would like to thank my crew this month Al Al-Rafai, Dan Strack "Strack Man", Tim Gilbert *, Mike St Marie, and just back from Afghanistan our newbie Mitch Sloan "Mr. Sloan" (welcome home brother)
Notable quote by an unselfish man: "Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true, than be selfish and worry about my liver."
