Saint Luis Rey - Reserva Especial Belicoso

Saint Luis Rey cigars are one of the best value cigars in our humidor. They are handcrafted in Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras and renowned for their full flavor and aroma, they achieve this through a unique blend of Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian long filler tobaccos, a Nicaraguan binder and a dark, rich Nicaraguan or San Andrés Morrón wrapper. This cigar is sure to make everyone's top 10 lists.

Looking the cigar over is has a 52 ring gauge and is just over 6 inches long which in turn will figure out to be a hour and a half to a hour and forty five smoke. the cigar itself was a
bit rustic with several veins with a very nice oily sheen to it and smelled like nice tobacco smell with I want to say a little sweetness.  The cigar lit up very nice and had a good draw. The burn through the cigar was a bit uneven but this is to be expected with the veins in the wrapper.

Starting out the cigar gave a good ample amount of smoke and was a little lighter in flavor than expected, but it was a nice nutty bread flavor. This continues and gets stronger throughout the first third. As I get through the middle of the cigar there is an unexpected floral note that comes out I cannot put my finger on it though, but is definitely engaging and pleasant. This remains through the rest of the smoke

In conclusion, this is a great medium-bodied cigar that in my humble opinion pairs well with a nice red wine. Nothing to extreme but a nice merlot or a blended red works great with this cigar. I had a glass of J. Lohr Merlot and was perfect.  The delicate dark fruit and the softness of the merlot played especially nice with this cigar and tannins do well with most cigars.
