Limoncello
Looking for that great summer drink? I recommend taking a look at the Limoncello's in the Liqueur aisle. After several customers mentioned how good it was I had to try it for myself. I bought a bottle of IL TRAMONTO Limoncello Liqueur produced in Italy for $17.99. (current pricing as of date of newsletter)
Limoncello is traditionally drank after a large meal in Italy. It is believed to aid in the digestive process. It comes in at 30% alcohol by volume which is surprising on how smooth it is to drink. The best way to serve limoncello is in a small glass with ice cubes, the colder the drink the better. It has a nice aroma of sweet freshly squeezed lemon aide. When sipping, it does have a mellow bite to it but is nicely mellowed with powerful lemon notes with a sweet finish.
That is just one way to enjoy this drink. You can also spice up those Cosmos by adding a dash to really bring out that Lemon flavor or create the perfect refreshing cocktail like the Lemon Blush.
My favorite cocktail to make though is the Lemon Meringue pie. Using one ounce of Licor 43, a bright yellow Spanish liqueur. Made from citrus and fruit juices and flavored with vanilla. Then add three ounces of heavy cream followed by one ounce of fresh lemon juice to thicken that cream up. Give it a good shaken and strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a lemon twist. For those of you who like to take it one step farther, rim the glass with whipped cream and then sprinkle crushed graham crackers over to create a perfect touch to the crust. Then sit back and enjoy the perfect slice of Lemon Meringue.
