BACKYARD BEER PANEL
Did you make it to the Craft Beer Expo at the Civic Center "WOW"? I was like a kid in a candy store. They gave me this little glass and let me loose to run amuck. After a while I had this whimsical smile (not sure if it was the ambiance or the brew). All the breweries were at the top of there game (41 breweries listed) with minimum of 3 different samples each. The only let down was that they had to turn people away because they sold out. (In my book not getting in to this event for a die hard beer drinker would be as painful as a tooth extraction). I don't believe tickets are on sale for this for next year, but you can count me in.

This is an excellent crossover beer for those who are just starting to adventure out into the craft beer world. It is a very drinkable not too heavy, not too hoppy, not too dry, and not bitter. I really like Blue Moon and enjoy plopping an orange into my murky looking wheat brew (yummy). The Spring Blonde Wheat Ale fell off the mark of as wheat with its crystal clear (filtered) appearance and little or no bouquet. Those Guys (RateBeer.Com) gave this a 2.57 mostly for the same reasons as above. The Panel gave this beer higher than average marks because we like beers and this is a very a delightful beer that does not venture too far off the path. This would easily be pared with a lighter meal as a seasonal salad or casual barbeque fare. Mike says "this is very enjoyable to drink on a warm summer day boating or throwing shoes". It must be nice to daydream again... I would again like to thank my diverse group of beer drinkers Mike St Marie, Tim Gilbert, Dan (Strackman) Strack, Christine Vorpahl (Teener) and my beer loving self.
The question of the day:
IS BEER FOOD?
After the Beer Expo I would give that a "Hell Yea" it was a smorgasbord of beer (I felt quite content on many grounds). Beer is food for the soul, it relaxes you, it refreshes you, it loosens the brain (and sometimes the tongue too), and it fills the void like a between meal snack. You feel good, and it only takes one beer to achieve this. It is an excellent suggestion to pair beer with life!
Please, join me in supporting the beer makers of America and enjoy your beer.
Your BEST Beer Friend,
Pat Best
