CAO Gold Robusto
Good news everyone I got some new cigars in the humidor for the summer, so I thought that I would share one with you right now. This is the CAO Gold Robusto, a beautiful cigar with Nicaraguan tobaccos and all wrapped up in an Ecuadorian wrapper. Looking at the cigar it is almost flawless, very little vanes, it feels not too tough or soft, telling me that the draw should be great but the only way to tell that is to smoke it so here we go.
Taking a good whiff of the unlit cigar I get some nice tobacco smells as well as some hay and earthiness you would come to expect from the Ecuadorian tobaccos and is very typical of a mild cigar. The lighting of the cigar was not hard at all with this one, I decided to skip the torch lighter and go the old wooden match way. Even from the first puff, it was a nice creamy smoke maybe a hint of vanilla. Throughout the first and second thirds of this cigar, you get that nice creaminess and nut flavors and at the end of the second third, a wood flavors starts to develop.
Now as I get in to the last third of this cigar I will have to say that the burn was good I only had to correct it once and was not terrible at all. The flavor of the last third was dominant of nuts, cedar wood, and just a hint of spice, nevertheless a very nice flavor profile and smoothness throughout the entire cigar.
My final thoughts on this cigar is that it is in the lighter side of mild but does have some nice flavors that shine through were as other mild cigars do not. It is perfect with paring with a good Canadian whisky or maybe nice sweet liquor.
