Don Thomas Sun Grown Robusto
This month I pick the Don Tom Sun Grown Robusto, a cigar that Saint Valentine would be proud to smoke. These cigars have been crafted by hand in Danli, Honduras since the 1970's and are considered one the oldest names in cigars. The Sun Grown line is there newest out there introduced in 2007. The tobaccos used in these Robusto are grown exclusively in Honduras's Jamastran Valley. They feature a beautiful, medium-brown sun Honduran Sun Grown wrapper and filler that have been aged for a minimum for 3 years.
Going over the construction and feel of the cigar it is placed in to one of my top best-constructed cigar, it has a nice even firm feel from the cap to the foot. It has a nice smooth wrapper with very small veins and nice tobacco smell. One thing that I found particularly enjoyable with this cigar is that I lit it and them quickly forgot about it and just took the time to really enjoy the cigar. What I mean by that is that I did not have to relight, turn, or touch up the cigar at all which is a nice change of pace. During the light, I was blanketed with lots of creamy, thick full-flavored smoke that tasted of nuts and wood. Getting though the cigar was no problem and never disappointing there was no point in the cigar became harsh by any means.
In conclusion, this cigar has a great construction and a good flavor profile that stands out. Another plus to the cigar is that there is no touch up perfect for any smoker. This cigar would be perfect for fishing or grilling when you have other things to do besides fixating on the burn. While Dom Tom says that it is suppose to be a medium-bodied cigar, I would recommend changing that to a medium light style, it just did not have in my humble of opinion the oomph of a medium-bodied cigar. Over all I give this cigar a 9 out of 10.
