Summertime Apertif

The weather is finally getting nice and I'm sure most of us will be outside entertaining friends or guests. The best way to start the festivities is with an Apertif. What’s an Apertif? An Apertif is a pre-meal wine based drink. These can be Champagne, Riesling, Gewurztraminer or the famous Lillet which is a wine, herb, fruit blend. I prefer off-dry wine and bubbly to start an occasion. Here are some of my favorite Apertifs.

Columbia Winery CellarMaster Riesling - peach and pears and a touch of sweetness.

Snowqualmie Chenin Blanc - an easy summer sipper from Washington State.

Chateau Ste. Michelle Extra Dry - incredible bubbly for the price. Buy two or three.

Geyser Peak Gewurztraminer - Apricots and peaches with great acidity. Gold medal winner.

Seaview Brut - this Aussie bubbly rocks the house. Must Try!

Ruggeri Prosecco - an Italian sparkler with lime and pears on the palate.

These are all excellent apertifs that will start the party off with a bang. Stop buy and see us at a Westside Liquor nearest you and remember to "keep one hand on the corkscrew and the other on the bottle".

Arrrivederci!
